The numbers are in, and they are extraordinary. Kia America closed out September 2026 with the best monthly and best quarterly sales totals in the brand’s history, and the momentum shows no signs of slowing down. With a fourth consecutive annual sales record firmly in sight, Kia is proving month after month that its lineup resonates with more drivers than ever before. September brought 77,009 total units sold, an 18 percent increase over the previous September record, while retail sales of 70,429 units represented a 19 percent jump over the prior high. Zooming out to the full third quarter, Kia posted 236,659 total sales, an 8 percent gain over the previous Q3 record, with retail sales of 221,664 units setting yet another all-time high. Electrified models played a major role in driving those numbers, with hybrid sales surging 152 percent year-over-year and the broader electrified lineup growing 60 percent compared to the same period in 2025. “These monumental sales achievements can be attributed to Kia’s wide range of models and powertrains, which offer vehicles for every driver at every stage of life,” said Eric Watson, Vice President of Sales Operations at Kia America. “The momentum generated through the first three quarters of 2026 makes Kia the brand to watch as we set our sights even higher in 2027.” Eight key Kia models posted double-digit year-over-year sales growth in September, a remarkable display of depth across the entire lineup: Seltos — up 66 percent Niro — up 47 percent K4 — up 43 percent Telluride — up 42 percent Sorento — up 37 percent Carnival — up 21 percent K5 — up 15 percent Sportage — up 10 percent The hybrid side of the lineup was equally impressive, led by the all-new Telluride HEV alongside strong gains from the Sorento HEV (up 112 percent), Sportage HEV (up 53 percent), and Carnival HEV (up 47 percent). The record-breaking sales numbers came alongside a string of significant industry honors that further validate the strength of Kia’s current lineup. Green Car Journal recognized two Kia models in its annual Green Car Awards. The all-new, all-electric 2027 Kia EV3 earned the prestigious overall title of Green Car of the Year, while the 2026 Carnival Hybrid was named Green Minivan of the Year. Together, these recognitions highlight Kia’s commitment to offering electrified options across every segment of its lineup. On the safety front, the 2027 Kia Telluride earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s highest safety rating, the TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation for 2026. With that recognition, Kia now has five models carrying the IIHS TSP+ rating, including the Telluride, K4, EV9, Sorento, and Sportage. It is a remarkable statement about the safety standards Kia holds itself to across its lineup.
